Class 1

Danbury Woods

What an amazing time we had at Danbury Woods! The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They explored their senses while learning all about plants and nature. The children enjoyed a picnic with their teddy bears and enjoyed making homes and beds for their bears. Everyone commented on how well behaved the children were and how polite.

Thank you so much for your continued support and I look forward to our next adventure!

The photos below are just a snapshot of the day and you can tell from the children's faces just how much they enjoyed it!

World Book Day!

Thank you so much for all of the children's fabulous costumes. We all had a fantastic day and the children enjoyed looking at all the costumes during our parade. The dream jars the children painted look fabulous. They thoroughly enjoyed our extended family learning morning and we really appreciate your continued support.

Spring Term

Our topic work will be based around the Funny Bones theme. We will be transforming our home corner into a toy shop where the children will be able to dress up as their favourite characters. The children will be able to role play buying toys and will decorate the area with paintings of their favourite toys.

In Literacy, this half term we will be basing our writing around our topic. We will be writing using a variety of styles including; instructions, lists and captions, poetry, stories and letters.

In Maths, the children will be building on their work, continuing to practise accurate counting, sequencing of numbers, adding up and taking away.  They will also be learning about fractions, ½ and ¼ of both shapes and objects.

It is important for the children to be constantly practising their number bonds to 10 and extend to 20 as well as counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10s.

We will be comparing old toys and modern toys in History. The children will learn about how toys have changed and what children used to play with a long time ago.

In Science, we are going to learn about materials. We will be looking at objects and the materials from which they are made. We will compare and group a variety of everyday materials on the basis of their simple physical properties. We will also be designing a house for Funny Bones.

Class 1 really enjoyed 'Wear Something Red Day'. As a school, we raised over £280!
