PE AND SPORTS FUNDING

 

INTRODUCTION

The Sports funding is given to schools to develop the provision for sports and physical education. The school is free to allocate the funding as it sees fit, however it must be spent on the provision of PE and sports. Schools are required to publish online information about how the funding has been used.

HOW WE SPENT OUR FUNDING 2015 - 2016 – OUR PE AND SPORTS PROVISION

  • Being part of the William De Ferrers School Sports Partnership, this includes release time for our PE Leader for CPD, partnership meetings and monitoring

  • Employment of specialist games instructor and CPD to enable class teachers to develop their professional skills in the teaching of PE

  • Provision of additional extra-curricular sports club (athletics / archery)

  • Change4Life Programme for Year 3 and Year 4

  • Bodycare Roadshow for Year 2 and Year 5

  • Heartstart for all classes

  • Play Leader training for Class 5

  • Premier Sports staff to lead playground games twice a week at lunchtimes

 

OUR OBJECTIVES IN RESPECT OF SPENDING THE FUNDING

  • Improve the quality of PE teaching and learning through the sports partnership CPD opportunities

  • To enrich our PE and sporting provision

  • Offer all our pupils access to different aspects of physical activity including healthy living

  • Increase the number of pupils engaged in physical activity and healthy living

  • Broaden the sporting opportunities and experiences that we offer to our pupils

  • Develop a love of sport /physical activity and healthy living

  • To maintain the school sporting participation profile within the local community

     

THE IMPACT OF OUR PROVISION 2015 – 2016 – FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT!

  • We have won the Sports Partnership Participation Award out of 68 primary schools in 2014 and in 2016 – a huge achievement for a one-form entry school

  • Every pupil has access to a wide range of sporting and physical activities, and healthy living including:

  • Bodycare Roadshow, Change4Life, Bikeability and Heartstart

  • Our pupils readily articulate the benefits of regular exercise and healthy lifestyles

  • The school attends virtually all the sporting events that are organised by the William De Ferrers School Sports Partnership, including:

  • Football, netball, rugby, dodge ball, cross-country running, tennis, squash swimming and mini olympics

  • Our pupils take part in sporting events and/or extra-curricular clubs both inside and outside school time

  • In addition to the archery and athletics for which the school uses the sports funding we also provide a range of other extra-curricular sports clubs throughout the school year including:

  • tennis, football, rugby, dance and netball

  • Pupils have the opportunity to participate in inter school competitions

  • Gifted and talented pupils are given the opportunity to participate in local and regional competitions

    Positive play and inclusion of playground games is evident at lunchtimes, resulting in very few playground incidents

 

MONITORING OF OUR HOW OUR FUNDING IS SPENT

  • PE Action Plan which clearly details how we intend to spend the funding and how we will measure the success of our actions

  • Termly PE Leader and PE Link Governor monitoring of PE Action Plan and progress towards meeting our objectives

  • Termly reporting to governing body

 

OUR PLANS FOR 2016 – 2017

  • To continue with the success that we have achieved 2015 – 2016 within the William De Ferrers School Sports Partnership

  • To continue with all the provision that we have in place to ensure that our pupils have access to and participate in a really wide range of sporting and healthy living events and activities

  • To continue to provide high quality PE teaching and learning
