Trinity St Mary's School, in South Woodham Ferrers, praised for work of stand in headteacher
A SCHOOL in South Woodham Ferrers has received glowing praise from Ofsted after it was rated ‘good’ in its latest inspection.
Trinity St Mary’s School, in Trinity Square, South Woodham Ferrers, was inspected last month by Ofsted.
Inspector, Cindy Impey, found the school to be in a very good position and praised the work of acting head teacher Janet Hoy.
She said: “The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the previous inspection. Although the school has recently experienced a difficult period in leadership, Miss Hoy has stepped up to the role of acting head teacher while also continuing as a class teacher.”
The report went on to praise the attention that has been given to the pupils’ writing skills at the school, but urged the staff to focus further on the children’s mathematics.
Inspector, Cindy Impey added: “Since the previous inspection there has been a strong focus on developing pupils’ writing skills. Pupils’ writing is now celebrated widely around the school, is beautifully presented and is of good quality.
“Leaders and those responsible for governance should ensure that they continue to improve and embed pupils’ deeper thinking skills in the teaching of mathematics.”

Our School Council have organised a 'Wear Something Red' day on Friday 21st October to help raise funds for their chosen charity, Bloodwise.
Children are encouraged to come into school dressed in red for a donation of £1.
Our chef, Grayham, is kindly baking cakes to sell at 50p each for all of our pupils.
We are holding an E-Safety workshop for our parents on Tuesday 18th October 2016 from 7pm until 9pm.
After attending an E-Safety session led by The E-Safety Training company I thought it would also be highly beneficial for our parents here at Trinity St Mary’s and help raise awareness of our children’s safety online. The aim of the event is to change parents’ perspective of what children’s lives look like online. The session also aims to challenge parents’ current thought processes when trying to have a greater understanding of what children are doing online and to help keep them safe. During the session you will be advised about many new and emerging apps that have appeared over the last year.
I would really encourage you to attend this informative session.

52 LIVES SCHOOL KINDNESS PROJECT
This morning our Class 3 and 4 received a visit from Jaime Thurston and Greig Trout, a motivational speaker who spoke to the children about kindness. They showed the children how as individuals they can make a difference to someone’s life by discussing a real-life case study. After the presentation the children were given the opportunity to create a card for a ten year old girl, Katie, who is struggling with juvenile arthritis. In the next couple of weeks they will be posting an article about their visit to our school on their website www.52-lives.org/schools.
Welcome to our brand new school website! We have created the website to keep parents up to date with school news and notices, and to showcase some of the great things our pupils are achieving. The website is extremely easy to edit by all staff at the school, so check back soon for new updates!
