Attendance

Attendance

At Trinity St Mary’s we believe that every day is important. Children who come into school everyday, on time and suitably equipped for school, will have the very best opportunities to achieve.

We expect every child to have at least 96% attendance. Don’t forget that with school holidays, non-pupil days and weekends, there is ample opportunity to take holidays or have routine appointments.

Children should not attend school if they are too ill to do so. If you are in any doubt, please see the useful list below of childhood illnesses and the latest NHS advice.

Leave of Absence Requests During Term Time

In order to ensure that every child achieves the very best they can, the headteacher will not authorise any holiday leave. If you have exceptional ‘once in a lifetime’ circumstances that require your child to be absent from school, you must complete a Leave of Absence Request During Term Time form.

Parents who take children out of school during term time for the purpose of a holiday, may be subject to a fixed penalty notice. The penalty for each parent issued with a Penalty Notice is £120 for each child, however if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice, it is reduced to £60.

ALL absences must be supported by a message on the day of absence, medical evidence or Leave of Absence Request During Term Time form.
